Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of characters who will split off from the central cast to begin their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.
The combat-focused team consists of Teor Pridesire (played by Travis), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.
Upon first impression, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party understands precisely where to go next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then settled his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and best friend, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have no other options.
- However, their status as important members in House Halovar could assist the group enter locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the traitor.
Future Episodes
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the other eight cast members to round up the Questers and Schemers parties.
Fans can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
